He may not have been the brightest cat in the world, but I'm pretty sure he was the sweetest. Goodbye, Buford. We'll miss you. Even Baxter, even though he says he won't.

I will miss Bufie, too. He was, as you said, a sweet kitty and he liked people. He was a member of our family for a lot of years. How he loved playing with those plastic bottle caps!!

He'd been on the decline for the past few weeks. He started getting skinny, didn't eat much any more and didn't socialize and holed up in the basement. Then he decided to make the bathroom his hospice - he liked to lay in front of the heat vent in there. Then he stopped eating altogether. But he didn't ever seem to be in pain, and he'd still purr and purr when we'd pet him, so we decided to just let him be. It's sad. And now Josie walks around the house pointing at the places he liked to lay and says "bye-bye, kitty-kitty." I'm glad none of our other pets are ever going to die. It's too hard. :(
